Matti Kähkönen appointed new President and CEO of Metso
The Board of Directors of Metso has appointed Matti Kähkönen, M.Sc. in Engineering, as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Metso Corporation and Metso Group. Matti Kähkönen will start in his new position on March 1, 2011.

Canon develops 500mm F/4L IS II USM and the 600mm F/4L IS II USM
Canon announces the development of two new super telephoto lenses for its leading range of EOS Digital SLR cameras – the EF 500mm F/4L IS II USM and the EF 600mm F/4L IS II USM. The new lenses will be displayed for the first time in Europe during photokina 2010 in Cologne, Germany.

Cewe Color decides to buy back own company shares
The Board of Management of Cewe Color Holding AG (SDAX, resolved to buy back own company shares on the stock exchange in the period from 25 August 2010 to 31 December 2010. The repurchase is based on authorisation granted at the Annual General Meeting of 2 June 2010 to acquire up to 10 % of the company's own shares. The equivalent value per share (excluding extra acquisition charges) may not exceed the stock exchange quotation determined in the opening auction in XETRA trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on the relevant trading day by more than 10 %.

Clarke appointed Head of Photo Imaging at Fujifilm Europe
Adrian Clarke was appointed Head of the Photo Imaging business at Fujifilm Europe GmbH, Duesseldorf, Germany, reporting to Nobuhisa Sekiguchi of Fujifilm Corporation in Tokyo and Junji Okada, the President of Fujifilm Europe. In his new positon, Clarke succeeds Ryosuke Miki, who was appointed Senior Vice President Emerging Countries Business Development at Fujifilm Europe.

Sony unveils SLT A55 and A33 with translucent mirror technology
Sony has unveiled the SLT A55 and SLT A33, the first pair of cameras to incorporate the company's translucent mirror design. In contrast with conventional DSLR cameras, Translucent Mirror Technology uses a fixed, translucent mirror that ‘splits’ the optical pathway between the main image sensor and a separate phase-detection autofocus sensor.

Sony releases DSLR-A580 and DSLR-A560
Sony has announced the addition of the A580 and A560 to its consumer-level DSLR range. Both the 16.2MP A580 and 14.2MP A560 are based around the company's Exmor APS HD CMOS sensors and enhanced Bionz processors. Both cameras can record 1080p full HD movies and deliver 7 fps in continuous shooting mode.

Lexmark sues importers of laser cartridges for patent infringement
Lexmark announced that it has filed a patent infringement complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) against 24 companies engaged in the manufacture, importation and sale of replacement cartridges for various Lexmark laser printers and multifunction devices.
