Leica Camera Group announced spectacular first quarter results
The Leica Camera Group, Solms, Germany, closed the first quarter of fiscal 2010/2011 with sales of Euro 56.18 million (US-$ 71.67 million), an increase by 93.1 percent compared with the same period last year. The net result of the group improved by Euro 16.25 million (US-$ 2073 million) to a net profit of Euro 9.43 million (US-$ 12.03 million), after a net loss of Euro 6.82 million (US-$ 8.7 million) in the year-ago period.

Canon introdouces three new PowerShot digital cameras
Canon announced three new high-performance PowerShot cameras - the PowerShot S95, the SD4500 IS and the SX130 IS Digital cameras. These cameras achieve photographic brilliance with Canon's HS (High Sensitivity) SYSTEM for improved low-light shooting in the S95 and SD4500 IS cameras, High Definition (HD) video recording, High Dynamic Range (HDR) in the S95 camera and a more intelligent Smart AUTO mode, among a range of others.

Olympus announces mju-7050, FE-5050 and FE-4050
Olympus has announced the latest additions to its range of compact cameras. The mju-7050 comes with a 14Mp sensor, 7x (28-196mm equiv.) zoom lens, 3.0" LCD and features HD recording and image stabilization. The 14Mp FE-5050 and 12Mp FE-4050 incorporate 2.7 inch LCDs and wide angle zoom lenses starting at 26mm and 27mm respectively. While all cameras include 'Magic Filters,' the 7050 also offers 'Magic Movies' where users can apply filter effects to videos.
