HP announces preliminary third quarter results

Departure of HP CEO Mark Hurd
Mark Hurd, Chief Executive Officer and President of HP, resigned from all positions within the company August 6, 2010 with immediate effect. The Board appointed CFO Cathie Lesjak, 51, a 24-year veteran of the company, as CEO on an interim basis. Lesjak has been a member of the company’s Executive Council since January 2007 and will retain her CFO responsibilities during the interim period.

PMA reports an increase in digital camera sales in May
PMA reports the amount of digital printing declined for the month of May. According to PMA Marketing Research, the volume of prints made from digital camera images decreased by 1 percent compared to the same month the previous year. Printing volumes at retail minilabs and instant kiosks grew 4 percent and 20 percent, respectively. Online ordering fell 9 percent and home printing fell by 6 percent in May.
